Allie & Naoki planned a small ceremony with only family in attendance at the Los Angeles County Arboretum (@laarboretum) in Arcadia. I remember keenly how they both wandered for a few minutes in the 🌿Prehistoric Forest🌿 before deciding on the spot that felt right for their ceremony. They rounded out the day by inviting a small group of friends to celebrate with them at the Side Bar at Covell (@barcovell). Follow your instincts, and all will be how it should. ✨🌑✨
It makes total sense to me that you’d get married and celebrate in a place that feels like home. In this case, Alison & John married in the home of Alison’s contemporary dance mentor, and ate dinner with all their family and friends at tables that were planted amongst her backyard fruit trees. 🍋 It’s that kind of abundance that makes you feel full and thankful for a long time afterwards.
I was lucky to photograph Michelle & Joel’s intimate courthouse wedding in Orange County last February of this year! We met at the Santa Ana courthouse, got them married, then met up again in Los Angeles for a small dinner at The Larchmont with their immediate family and dearest friends.
“We loved working with Gina for our courthouse wedding! We interviewed a few photographers, but we picked Gina because she seemed most like someone we would already be friends with. She has a very kind and calming presence, which came in handy because the courthouse was a madhouse that day (we’ll be sharing our anniversary with A LOT of couples!). It was super crowded and crazy, which led to our timeline running longer than expected, but Gina took it all in stride, and our photos turned out great. Gina did a wonderful job capturing the story of our wedding, including many lovely candid shots of us and our families. She has a great eye for composition and small moments, and she is as adept at capturing humor as emotion. On top of that, she is as organized as she is chill (a rare combination), and very responsive with all communication, even after the wedding. Highly recommended!” — Michelle & Joel
Wedding season is in full effect and I’ve been keepin’ it busy, keepin’ it real.
I thought I’d take this time to stop and wave my hand around. I have a moment to myself after shooting 4 weddings in 4 weekends, but without this mid-wedding season breather update, how would you know? I have to write this for myself as well. It’s easy to write off all this running around as a “blur”. But it was so much more than a “blur”. It was 4 weekends of traveling to 4 destinations to photograph 8 really wonderful people. Everyone has their own story, their own worlds, and I’m constantly thankful to be invited into the fold, at least just for a day.
